Okay! So I lied. Sue me!

It’s true, we Pandas almost only eat bamboo, and if people don’t stop cutting it down, we die. Fact. Still, I can eat whatever I want and I am small enough to fit in a bag, ha!

Man, life is sweet! I get carried around all day, although I get a camera shoved in my face now and again, but hey! I’d do anything to survive these days. Wouldn’t you?

Today, the giant panda’s future remains uncertain. This peaceful, bamboo-eating member of the bear family faces a number of threats. Its forest habitat, in the mountainous areas of southwest China, is fragmented and giant panda populations are small and isolated from each other. Meanwhile, poaching remains an ever-present threat.

Over 50 reserves created
By mid-2005, the Chinese government had established over 50 panda reserves, protecting more than 4,000 square miles and over 45 percent of remaining giant panda habitat.

However, habitat destruction continues to pose a threat to the many pandas living outside these areas, and poaching is a further problem. Today, only around 61 percent of the population, or about 980 pandas, are under protection in reserves. As China’s economy continues its rapid development, it is more important than ever to ensure the giant panda’s survival.

Ooops, I farted again!

Hi, my name is Pandackles. You may or may not know me but I don’t give a fart. Did you know we Pandas only fart so much, because we are sick and tired of eating bamboo all day? No, really! I hate bamboo!

So when we went shopping one day, into one of these malls, I demanded to try some ice cream. I was really upset that they wouldn’t let me have it at first, but when I threw a tantrum, they caved.

(Real) Panda facts:

Pandas are found only in the temperate forests of China. Although classified as a carnivore, the panda’s diet consists almost exclusively of bamboo. Despite being one of the most popular animals in the world, pandas are threatened by habitat fragmentation and unsustainable development. It is estimated that as few as 1,600 pandas remain in the wild today. WWF remains the primary international conservation organization protecting pandas in the wild.
